Hello Riders and Readers

I'm sure that in the next few weeks potential sponsors will be asking questions about the push and also the cause. Details of the clinic are available at www.mindinstructor.com, which should give you an idea of what it's all about. I'm aware it could be called a 'mind over matter' type of therapy but there is a lot more to it than that. Some people are sceptical and I have to say that at first even I was averse to the concept. But this guy has a truly effective method that has had very positive results, helping people with fully severed spinal cords to regain movement and stopping degeneration such as that of motor neurone disease.

The particular treatment I'm receiving is a combination of extensive workouts, breathing exercises, meditation and mind focusing. These all work on different levels. The first thing to do is to get the legs to recognise that they need to move, then send messages from the brain to the legs, breaking through the damaged area in the spinal cord or bypassing the damaged area through a neurotransmissional bypass. After 6 weeks of the treatment I had results, in a toe and the left thigh, and slowly this is increasing. But it is slow, there is no 'quick fix' to the situation and I am expecting to have to do this for many years, which explains the creation of this project by my friends to raise money.

The clinic has attempted to get government funding for this treatment, so far without success. I think this is unfortunate as the clinic would offer a condensed form of the therapy which would give so many people greater hope and positivity, which is vital for rehabilitation and would ultimately be cheaper! After four months in hospital with huge amounts of time to think about the ideal type of therapy, this one is the best I have found.

Hopefully in the future this treatment will be available on the NHS. In the meantime it will be relying on its success, something that I will be contributing to.
